All work and no play makes Jelly old and stale. Which is why we try to regularly organize events and activities to get us out of the “office” and having fun. Semi-regular events include:
Jelly Talks
Jellies across the country come together via webcast to listen to really smart people talk about business, technology, entrepreneurship, marketing, etc. Past speakers have included Guy Kawasaki, Chris Messina, Dave Morin and more.
Whirlyball
Bumper cars + lacrosse + basketball = an hour of fun. 5-on-5 games of Whirlyball that test your ability to drive awkwardly and throw a wiffle ball at a hoop – skills that can translate obviously and immediately to the real world of business.
Beer and Jelly
Once a month we leave the “office” early and head to a local pub for happy hour. Regular Jelly haunts include the Map Room and Hopleaf, both of which are known for their vast selection of Belgian brews.
BarCompany
Last summer, the Jelly team coordinated a 36 code spring at BarCamp Chicago. Locked in a room for a day and a half, a team of about a dozen designers, programmers and marketers worked feverishly on a web app, the prototype for which was unveiled at the conclusion of the BarCamp session to a packed crowd.
